The trend of Taiwanˇ¦s economy development shows that traditional industries are facing with the pressure of moving overseas. In a foreseeable future, the mainstream and the foundation of Taiwanˇ¦s industries will be high-tech industries that are knowledge-, technology-, and capital-intensive. As a result, research and development and innovation activities are essential, and automation and information technology is a necessity in every industry. In the future, a large amount of management personnel with technology knowledge, a macro view, and professional management training are required in the country to meet the challenge of the new generation. The goal of this department is to provide such work power with expertise. The Department also enjoys the proximity advantages of Hsinchu. With research and teaching resources from National Tsing-Hua University, National Chiao-Tung University, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park (HSIPI), the Department maintains excellent interaction with industry, government, and academia.
